Back to Merano via Algunder Waalweg and Tappeiner Trail
Along the Algunder Waalweg and Tappeiner Trail
No. 7 to Gratsch and to the Algunder Waalweg, one of the most popular Waalwege of South Tyrol, is now our route.
A bit below the Burggräflerhof we get off the bituminization and get to the actual Waalweg (50 minutes are specified from here to Gratsch).
At the end of the Algunder Waalweg we turn to the Tappeiner promenade, one of the most beautiful walks south of the Alps.
- Left: At the start of the Algunder Waalweg one passes a wooden gate.
- Centre:The soothing splash of the water, which at the same time takes care of cooling-off, makes a hike along the Waalweg unique.
- Right: The Tappeinerweg leads across the Küchelberg from Dorf Tirol to Merano and offers a lot of pleasant outlooks to Merano.
A stroll through Merano
This path leads along a slope approx. 100 metres above Merano into the city and takes one hour.
After a short stroll through the Laubengasse we go to the railway station in Merano and return to Naturns, having done another, but easier hike for the day.
Conclusion of our spring outing
The surroundings of Merano turn into a sea of flowers in spring and one can make wunderful excursions along the many hiking paths.
Our conclusion of a packed spring-hiking day in South Tyrol is almost exuberant: today we have aligned 3 of the most beautiful paths in the area of Merano and the lower Vinschgau, the Sonnenberger Panoramaweg, the Allgunder Waalweg and the Tappeiner promenade.
One thing distinguishes all of them: the permanent, beautiful view! An all round wonderful South Tyrol adventure, which is advisable to be undertaken in spring at flowering time, because it is the combination of the tracks that makes it fascinating.
It begins with blossom magic on the way out of Naturns, followed by the contrast of the veld-like Sonnenberg, then again followed by a sea of flowers, accompanied occasionally by the gleeful splashing of the water along the Waalweg – simply wonderful!
